Places to go South of Mallorca

Cala Blava

Cala Blava
Directly translated Cala Blava means the Blue Bay, but among the locals, the beach is also known by the names of Cala Mosques and Cala Mosca.

Cala Blava is a lovely beach that is well-protected inside a beautiful little rocky bay. The beach is covered with fine-grained sand, while behind the beach there is more coarse sand and boulders. In the water, there is also sandy bottom.

Puig de Ros

Puig de Ros

It is located in the southern part of Mallorca, approx. 20 kilometers southeast of the capital, Palma de Mallorca.

Puig de Ros is not an ordinary beach as it does not have any sand, sun lounges or sunshades. However, the natural surroundings are quite spectacular.

A relatively steep path leads to an area with low rocks; some are flat enough to lie on. The water also has an area with flat rocks and this almost works as a pool with shallow water. The water is apparent, and high waves are a seldom sight.

Es Trenc

Es Trenc

It is located in the southern part of Mallorca between the very small town of Ses Covetes and the larger holiday resort Colonia Sant Jordi.

Es Trenc is the most famous beach in Mallorca and the last large natural beach, which is not spoiled by big hotels and dozens of restaurants. The beach is now located in a national park, so hopefully, no hotels or the like will be built close to the beach in the future.

Places to go West of Mallorca

Portals Vells

Portals Vells

It is located southwest of Mallorca, just a few kilometers south of the major resorts of Magaluf and Palma Nova. The distance to Palma de Mallorca is 22 km. The beach in general
The bay at Portals Vells hides three small but lovely beaches, each of which has its own character.

Portals Vells is the largest of the three beaches. The beach has fine light sand and is surrounded by beautiful pine trees. The water is clear and inviting, and in the beautiful bay in front of the beach, there are often many yachts at anchor.

On weekends many local residents go here, probably because it is one of the quieter beaches in the area. The other two beaches in the bay are called Platja del Mago and Playa del Rey. The entire bay is also protected by the authorities, especially because of the rich birdlife.

Palma Nova

It is located on the southwest coast of Mallorca.  Palma Nova is the most family-friendly, whereas Magaluf is perfect for young people looking for a party. Palma Nova has three nice beaches very close to the town. The main beach, Playa de Son Maties, is 400 metres long, whereas the two other beaches are slightly smaller.

El Tor

Port d’Andra

Port de Sóller

The lovely town Port de Sóller is located in the western part of Mallorca. It was built a long time ago as a seaport for the mountain village Sóller.

Port de Sóller has two sand beaches that are located at each end of the large bay.

The main beach is a genuine town beach, centrally located near the charming harbour. This beach is more than 200 metres long and covered with fine-grained, bright sand. The water is almost always calm, and this is the most child-friendly beach.

Sa Foradada

Sa Foradada is a distinctive and emblematic rock formation that juts out of the Northwest coastline. It’s marked on century-old maps of Mallorca and is easily spotted from many vantage points around the Deia area.

Cala Deia

The old village of Deia is located between Soller and Valldemossa on the northwest coast of Mallorca. The beach Cala Deia lies close to Deia.
Cala Deia is a beautiful small shingle beach in a very picturesque setting. Only small parts of the beach are covered by gravel. Pebbles and rocks cover the rest. The sea is wonderfully clear and very inviting for a swim.
